1. Why does the spinning time vary – sometimes it takes lesser time but sometimes it takes a bit longer?

If you are finding any inconsistency with the performance like sometimes it takes very little time to wash clothes but sometimes it takes too long, you should not worry. Check if the drain pipe has been placed horizontally. If not, place it horizontally and your issue will be resolved. With a poor drainage system, the machine can result in poor performance.

2. Why do semi-automatic washing machines make noise while operating?

Semi-automatic machines are not very noisy. However, if any debris or other objects get trapped between the tub and the outer drum, it starts making noise. To prevent this, check all the pockets before putting the clothes for washing. Sometimes, when the bearings of the machine start degrading, it causes noise while operating. You can either lubricate the bearings with oil or grease or replace them completely.

3. What shall I do if my washing machine stops working randomly?

Check if the main switch is working fine and all the connections are tight or not. If you don’t find any fault, the power supply at your home might not match with the power requirements of the washing machine. In such situations, the motor gets overheated and stops operating until it cools down completely. If the problem still persists, check if the machine is set to drain mode because the machine will not wash clothes in this mode. If you are still not able to figure out the problem, you should call a technician.

4. Why water in my washing machine keeps filling and draining simultaneously?

To check this, fill the tub with water. Make sure that the wash selector is not set to drain. If the water keeps filling and draining simultaneously, it is an indication that the drain valve is faulty and you will have to replace it.

5. What causes the excessive production off lint?

Using a less mount of detergent while washing damages the clothes and produces lint. Even when you wash clothes where the water level is lower than the clothes level, it leads to the formation of lint. Make it a habit to clean the lint filter regularly.

6. How to prevent the semi-automatic washing machine from vibrating abnormally?

Make sure that you have placed the machine on an even horizontal surface. If not, adjust the screws on which the machine rests. If your washing does not have adjustable screws, you can buy a stand with adjustable screws and place the machine over it. If the surface beneath is horizontal and you still notice that the machine is vibrating, distribute the clothes evenly in the tub before starting to wash them.

Do you have a water supply issue at your place? Is the water supply not consistent or is the pressure at which water comes is not great always?

Semi-automatic washing machines are perfect for people dealing with these water issues. These are the most affordable types of washing machines. Also, when compared to fully automatic machines, semi-automatic machines consume less water and electricity.

Some of the most popular brands like Samsung, Whirlpool, and LG offer the best semi-automatic washing machines with a budget of Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 17,000.

To select a washing machine that meets your requirement you should consider the factors mentioned below.

Capacity:

The capacity refers to the weight of dry clothes that the machine can handle in one cycle. In India, most of the semi-automatic machines offer a weight capacity ranging between 6 to 11 kg. Here’s how you can select the capacity according to the size of your family:

Up to 6.5 kg capacity – perfect for 2-3 members
5 to 8 kg capacity – suitable for 4-5 members
More than 8 kg capacity – suitable for large families with 5+ members

Spin Speed:

Spin speed refers to the rotation speed of the drum during each spin wash cycle. The spin speed is calculated in RPM (rotations per minute). Faster spin speeds help in squeezing out the water from wet clothes quickly. 1000 RPM is considered as an ideal spin speed.
