You can easily get a 4K resolution TV under a budget of 50000. The watching experience on a UHD TV is undoubtedly way better than watching the same content on a regular 1080p TV. Since 4K TVs have 4 times more pixels than Full HD TVs, the video output delivered is more realistic and life-like.

But, before buying a 4K UHD Smart TV, here are a few important factors that you should check for:

Screen Size:

32”4.5 feet
40”5.6 feet
43”6 feet
49”7 feet
50”7 feet

HDR (High Dynamic Range):

HDR is mainly responsible for amplifying the brightness level, contrast level, and the colors of the TV’s display and make pictures look more realistic. HDR is available in mainly 3 formats: HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision.

Even though most TV sets support HDR10, it is a smart choice to pick the ones that support Dolby Vision as they are gaining popularity slowly.

Operating System:

Almost every LED TV under the budget 50000 is a smart TV and each of them comes with different operating systems namely WebOS, Tizen and Android. When compared, Android is considered as the best OS of all as it comes with a built-in Chromecast. A Chromecast makes casting or streaming content easier directly from your Android phone or tablets.

Best 4K Smart LED TVs Under 50000 – Buying Guide

Since there are so many options available in the market these days, selecting the best TV can be a bit tricky task. To help you find the best 4K Smart TV under 50000, here is a buying guide that comprises of all the essential factors. Let’s have a look!

1. Screen Size:

With a budget of 50000, the most common sizes that are available in TVs are: 50 inches, 55 inches, and 65 inches. Most of the TVs at this price offer 4K resolutions.

To finalize which screen size is ideal for you and your home to get the best viewing experience, you need to calculate the distance between the place where you intend to keep the TV and your sofa/bed/chair from where you will watch the TV.

If the distance between both the places i.e. viewing distance is more than 7 feet, you can opt for a 50 inch TV. If the viewing distance is around 7.5-8 feet, you can buy a 55 inch TV. If you want to buy a 65 inch TV, make sure the viewing distance is at least 9 feet.

2. HDR:

HDR i.e. High Dynamic Range is a new standard for UHD TVs that improve the viewing experience by almost ten folds.

The images look much brighter and the contrast is adjusted at a high level whenever there are dark and light areas on the screen. Apart from this, it also takes advantage of extra colors so that the images look realistic.

There are 5 different forms of HDR: HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, and Advanced HDR by Technicolor.

The purpose of all these forms of HDR is typically the same: enhancing the color depth and contrast, especially during dark or bright scenes.

However, the difference between these formats is the way they use metadata, what all studios and media players support them, and how easy/difficult are they to broadcast.

One of the most important differences between types of HDR is whether they use dynamic metadata or static metadata.

While HDR10 uses static metadata, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision use dynamic metadata. Technicolor can use both static and dynamic metadata whereas HLG uses neither of them.

The difference between dynamic metadata and static metadata is the dynamic metadata can adjust the HDR on a scene-by-scene basis, depending on the brightness of the TV along with the content that is being played. Static metadata, on the other hand, can’t adjust the HDR per scene. Thus, the chances of details getting lost are higher, particularly during dark or bright scenes.

As per the current trend, Dolby Vision and HDR10 (and HDR10+ to some extent) are considered as the biggest technologies in HDR.

3. Display Technology:

Most TVs that come in this range are LED (Light-emitting diodes) TVs. These LED display devices are classified into 3 major forms depending on the configuration of the diode: Edge-Lit, Direct-Lit, and Full Array.

In Edge-lit TVs, the LEDs are installed along the edges of the TV in such a way that they are facing towards the center of the screen so as to light the image.

For Full-Array LED TVs, there are many LEDs that are spread across the back of the TV. Since the number of LEDs on Full Array TVs are more compared to Edge-lit, the local dimming works fine, it is more targeted and produces deep, dark, and rich pictures that look very realistic.

Similar to Full-Array TVs, the Direct-Lit TVs also use multiple rows of LEDs that are placed behind the entire surface of the screen. But these Direct-Lit TVs don’t use local dimming. Due to this, the picture quality is comparatively lower and lacks depth. Rather than producing deep and true blacks, it produces more gray tones.

4. Smart TV Features:

A smart TV allows you to connect the TV to the internet via built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet port and lets you access all the web-related features. You can stream movies or TV shows on various apps like Netflix, Hotstar, and even play games online.

Some TVs even have built-in browsers so that you can browse data or check your social media profiles. While you get some content for free, you require a subscription for others.

A Wi-Fi connection is fast enough for most applications but if you wish to watch 4K UHD content or play online games, we suggest you to connect your TV to a hard-wired Ethernet connection.

Most TV manufacturers preload an OS on TV to incorporate multiple applications.

5. Operating System:

There is no standard OS for smart TVs. Each TV manufacturer prefers using a different operating system and software to add their own twist. Some manufacturers even use various OS and interface, depending on the model. Some of the dominant operating systems in the TV market are as follows:

  • WebOS (LG):

LG has its own operating system called WebOS. The OS is easy and fun to use with a motion-style remote. There is a launch bar at the bottom of the screen. You can find all the apps and settings of the TV here. Even after you navigate away from the streaming apps, they are still Live and open. You can even pause the content that you are watching on an app and then move to another app. After returning to the first app, the video resumes from the point where you left.

With the help of the Screen Share app, you can cast (Miracast) pictures and videos from your smartphone to the TV. The OS also features a 360-degree video playback (from 360-degree videos on YouTube) so that you can enjoy the video on a big screen.

  • Tizen (Samsung):

Like LG, Samsung also prefers using its own operating system – Tizen. The key feature of this OS is the Smart Hub onscreen interface. It lets you search for movies, games, shows, browse data, explore apps, and many other activities in the easiest way possible.

Samsung’s Smart View also helps you in sharing pictures, videos, or music from compatible smartphones or tablets (Samsung devices that run on Android) using either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Samsung TV also supports voice interaction using the voice-equipped remote.

  • Amazon Fire TV:

Amazon Fire TV is the smart TV operating system version of the famous Amazon Fire TV devices. This Fire TV Edition offers access to Amazon Alexa. Similar to Google Assistant, it can control other smart devices of your home, give you news and weather updates, and connect with other apps to be a part of your regular workflow.

Talking about the content, you will be limited to the apps that are available only in the Amazon Appstore. Even though it is an Android-based app, Fire TV does not give access to the Google Play Store. However, most of the mainstream apps are available on Amazon Appstore. YouTube is an exception though.

  • Google Certified Android TV OS:

Certified Android TV is Google’s version of a TV operating system. It is very similar to Android smartphones and gives access to almost all Google services like Play Store, Play Music, Play Movies, etc.

Most of the TV manufacturers such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Sony, etc. use this as the primary OS.

Since Android is Google’s product only, it gives access to multiple apps that are designed especially for smart TVs and are available on Google Play Store. Built-in Chromecast and Google Assistant are additional features. It also supports the Bluetooth-enabled game controller.

  • Basic Android-Based TVs:

Out of all, this is considered as the trickiest operating system. It is based on Android but does not feature Google Apps. Here, Android is used as the base and the Manufacturer can add customized skin on top of it and use it. While some support popular and pre-installed video streaming services, others don’t.

If you want to have a big screen at your home but the budget is tight, you can go ahead with this option. Nevertheless, check beforehand if it has all the basic streaming services pre-installed.

6. RAM & Internal Storage (ROM):

Both RAM and Internal Storage have a direct impact on TV’s performance. They let you know the availability of the storage space so that you can download as many apps and games as you wish to.

Internal storage is more or less like permanent storage. Most of the TV’s data is stored here such as TV settings, Wi-Fi passwords, etc. This memory is non-volatile which means that even after you turn off the TV, the data remains stored.

Checking for internal storage is important because a lack of space can lead to crowding of the internal storage whenever to wish to download extra apps. This can even slow down your TV in the long run.

On the other hand, RAM has a volatile memory. The moment you turn off the TV, the stored information vanishes.

Internal storage is required to download and store apps or games. But, to use these apps without any lagging, you need a faster RAM. Whatever apps you open, the info gets stored in the RAM and this is why fast RAM is required. More RAM lets you open multiple apps at a time without slowing down the TV.

Most manufacturers add 1 GB RAM to the system. A few high-end also have 2-3 GB RAM. The internal memory of most of the TV is 8 GB.

Some benefits of high Internal Storage (ROM) and RAM are as follows:

  • Install and use multiple apps at a time
  • The loading speed of videos is fast
  • Launches apps at a faster rate
  • Allows faster booting of the TV
  • Record longer hours of TV

7. Refresh Rate:

The refresh rate is the number of times an image refreshes or reappears per second. It is measured in Hertz (Hz). While movies are generally filmed at 24 frames per second or 24Hz, Live TV shows are filmed at 30 or 60Hz.

Most TVs offer a refresh rate of 60Hz. But, some high-end models even offer a refresh rate of 120Hz.

60Hz refresh rate is fine if you wish to watch TV only for entertainment purposes. However, if you like watching thrilling movies or play games, you should not buy a TV that offers a refresh rate of less than 120Hz as it might result in blurry images while objects are moving fast.

8. Panel Type:

All the LED devices work along with separate display technology. The most commonly used display technology is LCD (liquid-crystal display). These LED devices are powered by LCD technology, where LED bulbs are used as backlights.

There are 2 types of LCD panels that are used in LED TVs: IPS panel (In-Plane Switching) and VA panel (Vertical Alignment).

In terms of viewing angles, IPS panels are considered better than VA panels. Thus, you can watch TV from various angles. However, this is not the case with TVs using the VA panel. They offer a limited viewing angle.

Apart from a better viewing angle, IPS panels are also considered tough and durable. VA panels, on the other hand, are better in terms of color reproduction.

The rating of the TV panels is done by manufacturers and distributors after strict quality checks.

They are graded as A+, A, B, or C where A+ means the panel is of the best quality and does not have any damages like spots or leakage.

For a TV or laptop, transparent panels are considered as the best choice. The more transparent the panel is the better color contrast you will be able to see on screen.

9. Sound Quality:

Since the modern TV sets have ultra-slim profiles, there’s not much space to incorporate huge speakers that produce full and rich sound.

Most of the TVs have speakers at the bottom of the screen facing downwards. Some TVs have speakers in middle on the rear end of the TV so that the sound distributes evenly. Both are not really the best ways to achieve an impactful and immersive audio output.

The best way to achieve an impactful sound quality is to connect a soundbar or home theatre to the TV. The other option is to buy a TV whose speaker set uses Dolby Digital Technology, DTS audio, or both of these to generate high-detail audio.

Most of the soundbars and home theatres support DTS and Dolby Digital and thus, both these formats are considered as the most popular surround sound formats.

DTS and Dolby Digital both support 5.1-channel audio (which means a typical home theatre system with 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer). More advanced versions of this format even support 7.1-channels, overhead speakers, and surround system, usually in the form of Dolby Atmos and DTS-X.

10. Audio Output:

All of us wish to have high-quality sound from the audio system that does not end up cracking while increasing the volume.

To achieve this, you need to understand what speaker watts are and why you must consider it. When the amplifier processes sound, this output is measured in watts. All speakers come with a pre-defined maximum number of watts that it can cope with. This number is mentioned by the manufacturers.

Most of the slim TVs offer an audio output of 20 watts. This table will give you a better understanding of the translation of watts to decibels:

When you add on 10 watts, it does translate into a 10 dB increase in the volume. Instead, doubling the power can translate to an increase of 3 dB.

11. Connectivity:

This is one thing users often end up ignoring. You should check the connections offered by the TV and if it has the right types of inputs and outputs. It must support your other audio and video gears.

  • HDMI Ports:

You can use HDMI ports to connect your TV to a set-top box or a gaming console. Most TVs have 2 HDMI ports. Even though an extra port is always helpful, don’t settle for a TV that offers less than 2 HDMI ports.

  • USB Ports:

You can connect your pen drive or other streaming devices using these USB ports. A TV should have at least 2 USB ports for a smoother experience. Some TVs have 1 USB port but the problem with them is every time you want to connect an extra device, you will have to remove the first device. This might not be the smartest idea though.

  • Ethernet Port:

To connect a LAN to the TV, an Ethernet port is a must. If your TV does not have an Ethernet port and if you wish to connect the TV to a LAN, you will have to spend extra bucks on a wireless connection.

  • 3.5mm Port:

This port can be used to connect headset or earphone jack to the TV. If you like watching TV at night but if your TV does not support Bluetooth connectivity, this port can be very helpful. You can watch TV without disturbing other members of the family.

  • VGA Port:

A VGA port is used to connect your laptop to the TV. Even though you can do this using an HDMI cable too but if the HDMI ports are pre-occupied, you can use the VGA port.

11. Warranty:

Checking the warranty offered by the Manufacturer for any electric gadget is something that you shouldn’t miss out on. A standard warranty period offered by any TV manufacturer is 1 year. However, some brands even offer an extended warranty. A longer warranty period is always preferred. In case any problem shows up on the TV, this warranty can help you save a lot of money on repair or servicing.
